So now that you know about the LSAT, the entry way into law school, I want to give you all an approximate timeline of what to do when. You may use this as a guide during the process.
If I want to attend law school in the Fall of 2017, I need to start now.
Fall 2015: Research and visit law schools
Winter 2015: Begin studying for the LSAT.
Spring 2016: Take the LSAT (February 6th or June exam)
Spring 2016: Visit law schools, if not previously done.
Summer 2016: Visit schools again, if necessary, and narrow down.
Summer 2016: Study for LSAT, if you wish to obtain a higher score on the next exam date.
Fall 2016: Begin law school applications, especially for early decision.
– Early decision deadline: November 15th at nearly all schools
– Regular decision deadline: February 15th at nearly all schools
Fall 2016: Take the LSAT again, if you wish to obtain a higher score (October or December exam)
Winter 2016: Await decision for early decision application, usually done by the end of December
Spring 2017: Await decision for regular decision application, usually done by the end of April
Summer 2017: Work, vacation, volunteer, intern, whatever you fancy before you start law school
Fall 2017: Law School Begins!
